Ms. Clayton:
Q: How many years have you worked at SHS?
A: “This is my 35th year at SHS; I started in 1988. The first two years I actually worked with my dad in the math department. At that time, it was a department of all men.”
Q: Do you have any plans for retirement?
A: “My husband is currently retired, and we will probably travel some and go up north in Wisconsin. We’d like to boat around and we both like to fish together.”
Q: What is your favorite memory or accomplishment from your time here at SHS?
A: “I was the student council advisor from 1988 to 2003. So in that time, we just did a ton of fun stuff.” “We had probably a dance after on a Friday evening every at least once a month. Looking back, I didn’t think it (the student council projects) was a big deal, but it’s so nice seeing some of the memories.”
Q: If you could give a piece of advice to the students, what would it be?
A: “My advice to students is to engage yourself in class and get off technology.”
Mr.Kruse:
Q: How many years have you worked at SHS?
A: “This is my 16th year.”
Q: Do you have any plans for retirement?
A: “I think some of these things are mostly a “we” thing; it’s never about just me. It’s always about what the system is doing. Well first of all, what I’m most proud of is we exceeded expectations on the state report card every single year. We won the Spirit of Excellence award two different years. We have one of the highest graduation rates in the state. I think those are all very good things as a school which we’ve achieved. I have had the honor of representing the state of Wisconsin as the 2007 Assistant Principal of the Year and also the state of Wisconsin in 2018 as the Principal of the Year. That takes all of us paddling in the same direction.”
Q: Q: If you could give a piece of advice to the students, what would it be?
A: “Come to class every day you can, but most importantly, treat people the way you want to be treated. Thank you for your continued support and for letting me be a small part of your lives. For the past decade and a half. It’s been an honor, and I wish you all the best.”
On behalf of The Norse Star Staff, we wish Mr. Kruse and Ms. Clayton a happy retirement!
