Letter to the Editor Policy

Students, staff, faculty, and members of the community are welcome to write a letter to the editor pertaining to an article that was published in the latest Norse Star issue.
If someone wishes to have their letter to the editor considered for print in the Opinions section of the following Norse Star issue, the Norse Star staff must receive their letter five days (including weekend days) after the distribution of the latest issue. For example, if the issue is distributed on Friday, the letter must be received no later than Wednesday at 3:20 p.m. If the issue is distributed on Monday, the letter must be received by 3:20 p.m. on Saturday.
To be considered for publication, all letters must be 300 words or less, and they must be signed by the letter writer, so that the Norse Star Staff can verify the authenticity of the letter before printing. Letters may be edited by Norse Star staff due to obscenities or libel concerns.

Conditions for not having your letter printed in the following issue itself include the following:

The Norse Star receives more than three letters to the editor by the deadline. In this instance, all letters will be printed as an insert or inserts in the issue

If received later than the hard deadline of five days post distribution, the letter may be printed as an insert OR the writer can opt to have their letter printed in the following issue.

The Norse Star has the right to refuse publishing any letter to the editor.
